Project 2: Using the Arts - Art Loans
The collection includes Sabra's vibrant photographs on the Mexican Day of the Dead; Carla's emotive photographs of South American Cemeteries and funeral art; David's designs for stained glass memorial work; and Tony Tree's 'Faith' collection.
These are normally housed with The Martinsey Isle Trust and some displayed in the Resource and Drop in Centre, where the work of other artists is also being collected.
During the past 6 years Sabra and Carla have staged installations to use 'the arts' as a less threatening way to introduce discussion about death and dying issues. These installations have included several Death and Dying Awareness Days. An exhibition of photographs and art work by all three artists was also staged for a period of 18 days in Dorset as part of the Trust's introduction to the 'First Transitus Festival' there. Also displayed have been Sabra's 'Mrs Weaver set piece' and 'Soul Journeys' and Carla's related paintings. The Trust sells cards illustrating some of this work.
